Vogue Style Music for Fashion Dance
Vogue, or voguing, is a stylized, modern form of house dance originating in the 1980s that evolved from the Harlem ball culture of the 1960s. It became popular when it was featured in Madonna’s song and video “Vogue,” and when it was showcased in the 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning.
What does vogue dancing mean?
Voguing is characterized by straight movements and playing with poses as models (angular, linear and rigid arm, leg, and body movements). This style of dance emerged from Harlem dance halls by African Americans and Latinos in the 1920s-30s.
